Face Cakes girl styles...!!

I made these cupcakes for a work colleague of my boyfriends. It was his daughters birthday. They're chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and fondant faces.

I sat up until 1am doing them.

But it was worth it, I think they turned out adorable!!

I'm going to Japan tomorrow for 2 weeks - is it lame that one of the things I'm most concerned about is missing out on 2 weeks of food blogs?? I'll have alot to catch up on when I get back, that's for sure!!

BYE FOR NOW!!

The meal of Epicness part 3.

Sorry this has taken so long.

Dessert.

Delicious, sweet, creamy, chocolatey dessert.

My mouth is watering just typing those words.

You see, I'm on a diet at the moment and I'm eating hardly any junk food at all.

It's been ok for the past 2 weeks. But tonight, I've hit this point where all I can think about is chocolate. And cake. And ice cream. And lollies. I don't think watching tonight's biggest loser temptation is helping either. A room full of food, including a chocolate fountain? Died and gone to heaven!

Anyway, a dessert from times when I didn't care so much about my figure:

Mmm......chocolate
I can smell it......
I can almost taste it......
Oh my god this is just too much!!

I was feeling so generous that day, that I even used my delicious Max Brenner hunk of chocolate that I had been given as a gift at Christmas.

That's a big thing for me to part with and share with other people.

But they weren't just other people.

They're my family - and they're worth more than any piece of chocolate anyday :)

Cup o' cake love??

I have been coveting these silicone teacup moulds by Fred Worldwide for quite a while now. Unfortunately, they aren't in stock at their online stockists, and the ones that DO have them in stock, don't post to Australia. COME ON INTERNET SELLERS, get with the times, who doesn't post to Australia these days?? And another thing that I'd like to have a little gripe about - some of those companies that DO grace Australia with their shipping charge a mint. Unlike Amazon. Amazon, oh Amazon, apple of my eye......

Anyway....moving on.

Tea cups.

Cupcakes.

Cupcakes in a tea cup??

YES!!

I found these little babies at Chalet, stockist of all things cute and kitsch for the kitchen. I literally pushed my boyfriend out of the way when I saw the pink box sitting on the stand. There was no "oh I can't afford it" or "I don't need it, maybe another day". I picked that box up and held it like it was a pot of gold. I didn't even look at the price (which was $19.95 btw), I just paid and left feeling rather satisfied.

And now it's 10.38pm and I have finished baking and icing my four teacupcakes.....behold:

HOW CUTE ARE THEY!!?

$19.95 for a box of four - my only problem is that I want to go back and buy 2 more boxes so I can have a set of twelve, but this time it IS "do I really need them?"!!. Think of how awesome these would be at a tea party!! And if they did them in different colours (they're only available in white atm) and imagine if they had a teapot that you could bake a BIG cake in!! This all seems very appropriate for today as I saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D with the boyfriend - I think it's an awesome movie, well worth it and defo go see it in 3D!! Oh Jonny Depp you amazing piece of man!!

Engagement Cake

This weekend just gone I made an engagement cake.

A three tier engagement cake.

I have a confession to make:

I've never made a three tier cake before now. Enter freakout zone.

I think I did pretty well for someone who has never made a three tier cake before - there was a near disaster between the cake and my mother in the car on the drive there, but let's not talk about that ok??

Chocolate bottom, white chocolate middle & caramel top:

The cake is based on the engagement invitation - a very cute one I might add. I'd upload it to show you, but apparently Blogger doesn't like pdf files. Silly!! Those kind of files are very common, Blogger!!

Anyway, disaster was averted, and the cake got there in one piece.
